Prof David Hunter-Smith

Research Biography

David Hunter-Smith is a Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, skin cancer, surgical research, and education.

He is the Director of surgical research and Deputy Director of Surgery for the Peninsula Health care network in Melbourne, Australia.

He has led clinical research in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, and in the Department of Surgery at Peninsula Health, while conducting nearly full-time clinical work in plastic and reconstructive surgery both in public and private health systems. He has achieved significant research metrics including publications, higher degree student supervision, contribution to discipline, conference and course involvement, and teaching.

Areas of research and scholarly interests

His research interests include 3D printing, Dupuytren’s disease, Augmented reality in surgery and patient-reported outcome measures.
